Got addicted to the 5-strig banjo in 1975, learnt Clawhammer with the help of the red Pete Seeger book and a record of Art Rosenbaum, turned to 3-finger styles 3 years later to play contemporary bluegrass in the band "Red Hot Grass". After that many other musical projects from traditional to experimental, but leans more towards contemporary music.
Gives banjo lessons since 1980, organized many workshops and concerts with acoustic-music.
Main project these days is the Dawg / Swing band "Dawgmatics", performing in northern germany.
Founder of EL BIZARRE, the german chapter the 'International Merrywang Society'

Andreas Benkhofer, Dortmund: Plays banjo since 1969. Studied music, subject of the thesis in 1979: Traditions of Folk Songs in the Southern Appalachians.
Played Banjo with the band 'Stringtime' and now plays with 'vier minus' and 'Duellin' Banjos', started off with Bluegrass and later changed over to the Oldtime camp. Several stays in the USA.

Reinhard Gress, Wuerzburg-Munic:

Plays banjo since 1974, autodidact with the Pete Seeger book, later the help of Derroll Adams and Tom Paley.
After ten years with classical music return to Old Time Mountain Music and traditional Bluegrass Music via the internet, collector of everything reagarding OTM. Plays in the traditional Banjo-Styles of Two Finger Down- und Up-Picking. Teaches Clawhammer Banjo and plays with a fiddler in the duo "Clifftop".
